it's a virus because it will automatically spread to other computer in your network. It sucks because if you fall for it, you are made to feel like you can only use the virus scan software you are redirected to. Of course, that site gets "rid" of the virus only to resurface at random times forcing you to pay and update fee. My in-laws dealt with this for over a year until I went to visit and realized their virus program was bullshit. It took almost a whole day to remove the damn thing.

Any better anti-virus suggestions? This website has had virus issues in the past but this one is a doozy.

Re: Virus
It happened to me too. My dumb ass fell for the scam and I hit "run" a few times to clean it up before I realized I was being lied to by my computer.

Re: Virus
Two really good maleware programs that are FREE:
Superantispyware http://www.superantispyware.com/down...NTISPYWAREFREE Malewarebytes http://download.cnet.com/3001-8022_4...690d5594d4ac7d When I download I will not download them with any offered options such as tool bars or have the program START on computer start up I want to use it manually. Once you install them start SAS first then do an update then run the scan. Once you complete that one then run Malewarebytes do the same. If you want to learn how to use them google how to use each program there is good info on the web on how to use them. If the maleware is deep rooted you may have to shut off the Windows Restore option and start in safe mode as some have suggested then run each one...one at a time. It is a good idea to download both to a thumbdrive just in case the maleware affects your ability to get on line or use your antivirus/maleware software. They do take 30-45 minutes for a complete scan especially Malewarebytes. Hope this helps |

Re: Virus
Do a search for "Personal Anti Virus + Malware" The name on it changes all the time, but its basically the same thing. You'll get a bunch of links to C-net and others discussing it and the programs that can remove it. You can download the free version of Spyware Doctor and scan your computer. It will detect it if you have it, but you have to pay for the version that will remove it.

Re: Virus
My AVG popped up, said it blocked it, listed the programs then did not prompt me for further action - - am I missing something here? I did a search of my computer of anything modified today and all I found were some files I was working on.
