Hey Bob

How about an update on the Presa pup? I'm curious (hint: pictures) to hear how things are going (hint: pictures).

I've been bringing her to club the past few weeks. Food drive sucks! Prey drive is great! Commitment to the bite could be better. I'm used to the GSDs and my terriers just flinging them selves after anything that moves. Possessive as all get out. Once she's got the rag it's "up your's buddy". "This belongs to me"!
The biggest thing I'm finding is she has the attention span of a gnat.
I't been a learning expierience. I've worked with all kinds of terriers, sporting dogs, working dogs, herding dogs, etc. I put this breed just above hounds  for desire to learn ANYTHING!
All that said, her sits, down, come, and heel isn't to bad for 15-16 wks old.
I'll try and get some pics today or tomorrow. Right now she's looking like a brindle Dane pup.

Interesting about the attention span. But I feel sure that you'll do fine. Remember when you told me how good for me it was to have a hard-to-train dog?

Smart A!
It's not so much hard, just different. I'm just having to dig a little deeper to find the right buttons to motivate her.
I know, if she were 4-5 months older, I could put a prong on her and  .........NOPE! I ain't gonna do it!

Need pictures! There's (what seems to be a very legit) kennel across the river in Hudson...Red Star Kennels...that specializes in Presas. I have always wanted to head over there and look at their dogs. The guardian breeds are really interesting to me. They do boarding, too, if I wasn't set up so well with a kennel already (a guy from the local Sch club who also does PP) I'd force myself to step foot in WI to check 'em out.

Forgot to add they also carry what they call "Soviet German Shepherds."

Camera batteries are in the charger as we speak! Pics tomorrow!
I've herd of Red Star. I sent an e-mail to this pups breeder and asked about them.
I wont trash OR recommend any kennel I don't personelly know about so I'll send you a PM about what she thinks of them.

No idea, myself. Pretty pictures and they at least say the right things about potential Presa buyers (I'm sure Presa breeders get their fair share of kooks). And I am NOT in the Presa market.  But I'm always looking for a fall-back kennel. This guy I've used has been awesome, and it's just my dog with his Mal...can't beat that. Plus he always talks about how great my dog is, so I'm biased.

As the proud owner of a hound mix of some sort, that's BAD LOL. My Abbie never even bothered to learn an obedience command. Reaching for the treats was too much work for her....and walks? HA. SHe just turns around and heads home. All she wants is a couch somewhere...
Abbie's cute enough to be able to get away with it! How's she doing, btw? PM me.
