the pooch parade is some weird dog walk thing some group puts on every year. people come and dress their dogs up in rediculous outfits and somehow they pick a winner. this year they asked us if we would lead the parade. two of us said we could do it. after us were some guide dogs in training...

Awwwww......now home come none of you are wearing the kilt? Or how about your pooch????

I don't know if we have anything like that here. My dog probably wouldn't be welcome even if we did LOL. None of my neighbors are thrilled about two GSD's living in close proximity (but they dont' care about the beagle mix).

Looks like you guys had fun!

Speakin of Jeff, has anyone heard from him?
After I deleted some things in a post of his, and my reply that if he couldn´t behave himself, he´d better could leave..he did...he only reads now and then.

Selana,
I just had a look at this post and thanks for giving Jeff the message. I just read some of his arguments/behavior and some in another post with a police K9 (can't remember his name). He comes across as a very angry person, his tone of writing gives that away. Even if he had a point to make, nobody would get it with that kind of mannerism.
Thanks for setting a standard.

Well, I guess we will have to agree to disagree, but anyway back to the topic.....was there a winner in the parade?
i have no idea. once we made our march, we (the cops) took off. i went home and collected my 1.5 hours of OT. i didn't stick around to see what abomination won...

What I love about parades like this, no matter how funny or silly the dog costumes might be, is the opportunity for us to be emissaries for well-trained dogs, especially of the "scary" breeds...........

I say, good for Tim and his colleagues and all the other handlers and owners who take that opportunity.

I know how silly our clubs' GSDs and Pugs (OK, especially the Pugs) look in our own parade on the 4th, but if we didn't look silly, who would want to come and sit on the curbs and clap and cheer?!

And our dogs show off their training....... 8) And we get to show off our poop-scooping skills!

it is always a bit risky doing something like this though. when we first started the parade, a guy came sprinting from behind us and was about 6 feet to the left of us and sprinted by. well imagine the reaction of a prey monster dutchie seeing that. fortunately at that point i had the 4 foot leash wrapped around my left hand about 3 times and the other hand on the e-collar transmitter that was in my pocket. what an idiot. most people really don't have a clue. that's why i don't really like doing those kinds of things. i can pretty much predict my dogs behavior, but i can't predict the behavior of idiot people...
