For some reason I was thinking Texas was the only place that had something like that?

My question is, is there a place I can find out if I'm allowed to carry my pistol
in the open when I go for a walk with Jak? I've passed the Firearm
Safety Course and applied for my Concealed Carry Permit, but it takes
30-40 days to get it. I don't know where to look to see if there's
an open carry law in NC.
HOWEVER, I was posting at the same moment as David, andConnie Sutherland said:QUOTE:Kristen Cabe said:This is TOTALLY not related to dogs, unless you factor in the part about me taking Jak with me.

Q: Can I carry a gun in NC without having a Concealed Handgun permit?
A: This is dependent on many factors. On private property where
you have permission of the owner - Yes. In rural areas where open
carry is permitted - Yes. In cities and towns where a Display Ban is
in effect - No. END QUOTE

Michael just looked these laws up the other day. Maybe he came across this one? I'll text him and ask if he read anything about open carry laws (he's looking into a concealed carry permit).Kristen Cabe said:This is TOTALLY not related to dogs, unless you factor in the part about me taking Jak with me.

You sure? Is that state dependant? A friend of mine was special forces n he told me he could get a concealed carry permit without taking a class... maybe he doesn't know what he's talking about, or maybe it's state specific.Kristen Cabe said:No, in order to get a concealed carry permit, you have to do the class, even if you are military.

We'll have to call here and find out. Most states we've been to Michael is allowed to have a concealed carry license w/o going through the rigamarole. Of course this is NC LOLOL. I actually would find it totally insulting to make Michael sit through a 2 hour course on weapon safety. He could teach that course, and a few other weapons-related ones lol. Then there's the one on how to fire wire-guided missiles and repair them (his original job in teh army was a land combat missile repair person -- seriuosly expensive equipment).Kristen Cabe said:No, in order to get a concealed carry permit, you have to do the class, even if you are military.
Oh, and I called the sheriff's office and whoever answered told me that "you can't carry a gun unless you have a concealed carry permit." To be sure, I asked again, making sure to emphasize the part about carrying it out in the open, and the fact that I'm in the county and not within city limits, and he said no.
Hmmm...

My big concern is that I don't think some of the places he goes to recruit allow concealed weapons...so why bother? I suppose if we're hiking or something.
Tell me about it. You have to be a pretty poor shot to fail the shooting part of the test. I did it using the instructor's gun - one that I'd never shot before in my life, AND it was a revolver, too. I'd never even held a revolver before. I had one oops shot, because the trigger was a little more sensitive than what I was used to, but the rest were dead square in the center.1 yard and 10 yards? Wow, they're asking so much
