I just rescued a malinois who's about a year old. I've had him 10 days and was super sick days 4-9. I'm struggling. I love dogs, and he has a great personality, but im at a loss of how to be a good owner to such an active, high energy, young dog. I'm hoping for some connections and good sources of experience and knowledge to draw on. I want to succeed, for him and for me. Please help.

You have an adolescent, the hardest period to deal with IMO.
Work the brain. Train. Learburg site used to be easy to navigate and very useful info, may offer you some good insight into the difference between a 'normal' pet, and a high drive working dog as well as how you deal with that.
They are work, but if you are experienced with dogs to start it doesn't have to be too hard. just different and not so forgiving if you forget it.
Train, give him 'jobs' to do and you should end up with the best, most versatile dog you have known.
