Met with a neat company yesterday, iRobot...same folks that have that little disc vacuum cleaner you can buy in stores. Here's their military stuff:

This is already saving a lot of human and dog lives in Iraq and Afghanistan. They are robust little mothers. Around 25kg loaded up. You can throw them through a window, etc. and just set them up to start rolling. Lots of different functionality.
Given the budgets the military is throwing at robots and the fact that nothing dies on our side if something goes wrong, my guess is this kind of technology will percolate down to LEOs and the like sooner than later. For now, a neat tool to get rid of putting dogs and soldiers in places we don't want them.
