My friends, their dog was doing well after spaying! Your pet has become calmer!Hi everyone,
My PP dog is 4 in July and was intended to be my foundation bitch but she got Pannus and has been washed. Now I’m left with the decision to do a lap spay (ovary removal via keyhole, uterus intact) vs an ovary sparing spay (one ovary remaining, cervix & uterus removed). One vet recommends one and of course the other one thinks and OSS would suit her better.
She is apparently suitable to trial according to my trainer. They recommended against spaying her incase it affects her drive. Check out . Can anyone let me know how their spayed working bitches get on?
Did their weight, muscle mass and coat change? Any incontinence? Decrease in drive?
Her dam passed from mammary cancer and although she is past the window of mammary cancer reduction, an OSS would still increase the likelihood of benign mammary tumours according to the vet who recommends a lap spay. This has not been indicated anywhere else in her lineage.
Help! Haha.
