This is a poll, and nothing but a poll, not another table training thread. Please just vote :)

request for another choice?

-Haven't seen it done, but would not object to trying it with a trainer I trust.

that would be my choice...
I go with Tim´s choice.
Ditto!
This is interesting how this pole turned out. Suprised in a way.
Interesting, I've been told by a few that its a terrible idea. I'ven't seen one before, but I have heard many bad things about it. I'm wondering who had a good expereince with it?
i had a good experience with it. the way i saw it used (by our own gregg tawney) did NOT put the dog into the "fight or flight" mode that defense tables have the reputation for. it was basically the same as staking a dog out, but the decoy is able to get close to the dog without fear of being bitten. other things about it put my mind at ease and i wouldn't hesitate to let gregg work my dog on a table again.

another trainer who i don't trust? i would probably pass unless i got the chance to see him work other dogs first.

Thanks for sharing your expereince at least it opened my mind a bit. I don't think I will try it unless I really have to. What do you use it for to work on?

it's just done as a civil exercise (no equipment) to get the dog to focus on the man.
If used correctly the table can be a very helpful piece of equipment. I have two (a round table and a square table, PM for the useof each) and I use them dang near everyday. I love the finished product I get out of them. There is not a PD, in a 200 mile radis that would argue with me either. The military is also seeing the benifits of the table too. The bad wrap comes from those that have not seen it and have only heard of them thru "trusted internet training experts......)

Hmmm... I bet I can guess where those "trusted internet training experts" reside! ;)
Some are even on these board........."I have never seen it done, BUT a friend told me........
The one thing I see with this poll is that what people will say in a thread is not what they really feel. They just go along. : )

Really? What I saw was that a whole bunch of people said what they thought in a 20-page thread and didn't much care about the poll.
We use one and my dog gladdly jumps up on it to work. Tables can be used for allot more than aggitation or bringing out defense. My dog is still young, so not puting defense on him yet. It's great for working targeting.

In the poll I'd like to see the option (I have used one in real life) not voting based on internet gossip circles.

Daryl, I love that dog.
I saw it just once, in a Balabanov seminar. Just later I readed about how terrible it was suppossed to be, but by then I'm already open enough to the idea. I wouldn't use one on my own unless someone really clear about what he's doing can guide me.
I have seen it. But don't have a poll slot for my answer. We simply don't use that in our club because we have a specific program that does not include that (not putting it down), we just have other methods that we feel work best in our program.
