Hello
My name is Brian Amos and I'm a Deputy Sheriff in Sacramento County, California. A friend of mine who is a K9 handler in the nearby City of Elk Grove turned me onto this forum. I'd have to say that you guys are on to something good here. Everyone is real friendly. I love the working dog forum logo. That would make a great t-shirt.
I've been a deputy 10 years and 5 of that has been working K9. My 1st partner of 4 years was a beautiful GSD named Jimmy. Jimmy suffered an embolism in his spine and had to retire. I lost the perfect partner. We have some great bad guy stories to look back on. I'm happy to say that he has recovered nicely and can move around without pain.
After a bumpy road looking for my next dog I teamed up with a young mal my daughters named Jesse. Jesse just turned two and is working out real well. He is 61 pounds and came from Holland. He had a small amount of KNPV type training when he came over. He is very friendly and has a tremendous desire to work. His patrol work is going so well we just started narcotic training. Here is a link to my page on our website. It has pics of Jesse and Jimmy. http://www.ssdk9.com/content/teams/45/
I'm also the president of our volunteer K9 association. Our association was formed to help care for our retired dogs into their retirement years and to help promote police dogs in our community. We built a website www.ssdk9.com and achieved official non-profit status this year. We have had a lot of fun and met people from all over the world through our website. Lots of dog lovers out there!
I hope to meet more of you!
