Today we mourn the loss of our friend and fellow board member, Chris.
Chris was a very kind and generous man, he always had a way to make you laugh or cheer you up when you've had a really bad day or needed advice. I looked forward to meeting him in person this upcoming week and regret that I will never have the chance. Chris was a warm-hearted and friendly person, and he will be missed greatly.

Please keep his family and friends close in your thoughts and prayers.

I wonder if any one might be interested in donating
$ and sending flowers to the memorial in behalf of WDF/us if so.....?
I definitely would

Amazing that you're helping his wife, Jeremy. Chris clearly touched a lot of our lives..

I'm just a small part in this really. Jesse Reese, His wife Lisa, Corrina, Rod Proctor, Tim Evans, Jim Laubmeier, & everyone in the local dog community is coming together helping how they can.
Were going to pick up a kennel because were one short for K-man. Training buddy is letting us use it.

Lisa set up the account today at Chase bank. All you have to do is go in to any Chase branch & give them the Account number 2949659912. Any little bit will help with expenses . Thanks.
Rest in peace Chris and my condolensces to his wife
My prayers go out to Chris, family and friends.

No Chase banks here Wells Fargo & US Banks are the 2 big ones nere
I look forward to eventually seeing Chris on the other side of that legendary Rainbow Bridge. It's a journey we'll all eventually take. Enjoy the walk on the way to it.

By the way, Chris' wife might enjoy reading this thread. Perhaps someone could share it with her.
What a terrible thing to hear about.
My thought and prayers are with Chris's family and friends.
The thing about Chris was he was a unique personality, and its the interesting personalities that make this sport interesting. Run out the crocks and conmen from our ranks, but keep people like Chris.
I was also not aware of all the stuff he did to help people learn, wether it was giving out DVD's or just talking on the phone to people. He was a better man than me doing that.
The loss of one of the greatest characters this world will ever know will affect us all. Rest in peace Chris. Your loved ones will always remember you.
Condolences to his family & friends. RIP Chris.
Wow, I am as shocked as everyone else to hear this. Again I am jolted back to the reality, that we can all go at anytime. I should not put off what can be done/said today, until tomorrow.

Prayers to his friends and family. RIP Chris. Throw a few balls for my long passed dogs, until I see them again.
Being new here I didnt know Chris, but it is tragic to lose a friend especially so young. My condolences to his family and all of you who knew him well. We sometimes forget how precious and fragile life is.
I'd definetely be in for donating to send flowers. Tomorrow, I'm going to donate some to the Chase account.

Chris Michalek (born July 23, 1971) (died December 16, 2010) is an American harmonica player.
Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, he is an accomplished modern diatonic harmonica player in many styles including Jazz, Funk, Blues and World Music. Michalek was also the organizer of the Global Harmonica Summit in 2000. Michalek is known for using the overblow technique, which is used to play chromatically on the diatonic harmonica.
When he was a teenager, Michalek's harmonicostic talents were discovered by members of the Twin Cities Harmonica Society, including the prominent harmonica player and one-time Harmonicat Dick Gardner.
It was the music of Howard Levy that opened Chris' eyes to the possibilities of the harmonica. Levy's overblow, a kind of controlled bend, makes available all notes on the diatonic harmonica. It allows the combination the excellent tone of the diatonic harmonica with the melodic possibilities of the chromatic. An instrument that once seemed limited became somewhat flexible.
Chris quickly began to play jazz and to experiment with other styles of music. He was still playing up until recently with well-known bassist Mahlon Hawk in the Buddha's Groove. He sadly passed away on December 16th, 2010.

I thought this was cool from the end of the interview linked above. He was talking about harmonica playing, but I am sure he would have said it about dog training too...kinda suites his sch III talk !

Last words to members of HOOT?

Be yourself, don't compromise. Don't quit trying because you think you can't do something. If you stop working on something, somebody else will come along and do what you wanted to do. See your goals on the highest peak possible. You may not reach the pinnacle but I guarantee that you will have an incredible journey trying to get there … and you will never regret the effort or the beauty it brings to you.
Wow... what a loss. I just watched a few of his videos... he had a gift with that harmonica.
