Shedd Aquarium...it's bigger than the Monterrey Bay Aquarium, you'll really like it. The Pacific Northwest portion is especially great...it's been a few years since I was there, though.

Art Institute is pretty good, but the Aquarium would be the place to spend a few hours. I also like walking through some of the neighborhoods...you could do the Frank Lloyd Wright tour stuff, there are a ton of his houses in Chicago...and the townhomes in the Gold Coast always seem neat to me. Just need a few million dollars to buy one.
