Uh, Hi! I see a few familiar names (Hi Jerry and Ken \:D/ ).

Not sure what to say. Have always wanted to get into working dogs and am finally taking the plunge and am currently waiting on my perfect pup. For now I'm very much in the learning/spectator stage and promise to try to be a quiet sponge here (as I think I have just about driven Jerry and Ken to exasperation lol).

I currently have a 22 month female Dobie who is somewhat camera shy. She has some issues but we're not going to work her because of them. She does tremendous bitework  , just ask my dad, and she is FINALLY getting the hint of how proud mama is when she does what I ask, but she has some health problems and had a very bad first year of her life, so we're just going to let her be the family baby, although we've still got work to do on that temper. Yes, we found her at the local shelter, two days away from euthanization and she had been abused. She's easily distracted and even climbs trees. It wasn't a matter of looking for a working dog there, we just happened up on her and didn't want to see her miss out on the chance for a happy life.

Anyway, I won't post pics but I'll post links to them.
Like I said, can't wait to get my first working pup and will try to stay quiet and just listen for now.

Thanks,
Lea and Reese Pup

Gee, thanks for all the comments about Reese. She is beautiful. Unfortunately, she's not exactly all there sometimes I think.

She had a severe bout of pneumonia, was sick the day that we picked her up from the vet after being spayed and it made a lasting impression. She gets winded very quickly and has lots of scar tissue in her lungs from it. Took almost three months of sterroids and antibiotics just to get her white count down from 30 with 10 being the high side of normal.

She also has become so protective of our family and territorial and has bitten my dad. He went into her backyard without us knowing he was even there and she just did what she thought she was supposed to I guess, but we're working on that.

One thing I will say that impressed me so much about her was her chest size. Now that she's put on some weight, she looks much better. She's hanging around a solid 90 lbs now but was only about 68 when we got her. I've always thought Dobies were beautiful creatures, but never truly appreciated one until we got her. Just to work with her and to see the movement of her muscles under her hide is extrordinary to me. Such a well built machine. But anyway, Reese will be our family pet, and I'm working toward a GSD for my first working dog. I thought I wanted another Dobie, but even with her poor health, Reese is so high strung that I think the Shep would be a better choice since we'll both be learning.

Thanks for the warm welcomes and Reese appreciated the comments!

See you in the morning! Your veins and I have a one year relationship now so I think we have a mutual understanding lol!

Just be thankful that my son picked last night to fracture his wrist so I'll be there tomorrow or you would have had to deal with one of the other goobers.
