There's a lot of truth in that. I do love the GSD.
I am not kidding here, Buko is the fastest dog I have ever had, including a rescue greyhound.

I took him back with me to my Grandmothers funeral service last fall. Mom and Dad live in the middle of nowhere, so I let him run in the field.

Last time I am doing that. he did about a half mile in like 30 seconds. I looked away, and about lost it. He was that far away. Of course he loved it, but damn, my heart about siezed up. At that rate he could hit highway real fast.

Dad said I should hook a tractor tire to his harness, that way I could keep up. He said it was good payback for when I was a kid, and about that fast.

Yep those little ankle biters are pretty fast! I'm not jealous...well maybe a little
Come to think of it during the early days of the GSD breed, they were structured and sized as that of malinois, that mals were often regarded as cousins of the breed. One can just imaging the speed and power of early GSDs that could leap 13.5 feet high up to that time of Rin Tin Tin and Braveheart.

Well, I don't miss it. My two GSD bitches can still outrun a malinois. I would know cuz I have both.

Best regards...
The smaller size of the Mal is a definate plus for speed and agility. We have two small GSDs at our club and we jokingly refer to them as sable Mals.
