Tim, sometimes Trojans will not be flagged as viruses due to being very
new, or non-destructive (other than being a resource hog and extremely
annoying!) - so that anti-virus programs deem them "typical end user programs".

One way to check is, if you're running Windows XP, and you know "basics"
as to what typically runs on your system, you can view all the programs that
run on startup, using:

msconfig

So, click on your Start Menu, then click on Run... Once that dialog box
is open, type in: msconfig Once you've type it, click on OK.

Start + Run + msconfig
Click on OK (or then hit enter).

Once you have MSConfig running, click on the "Start Up" tab. That'll provide you
w/a list of all programs that run. You can then deselect the programs you are
unsure about. Click OK. It will then ask you if you want to reboot or not.
Reboot. Once your system comes back up, You'll get a dialog box informing you
that MSConfig has disabled certain startup programs. You can select the box that
says something along the lines of, "Do not show this box again".

DISCLAIMER: If you deselect programs that need to run, such as McAfee &
Windows XP specific programs that the system needs, then you'll get error
msgs on startup. The good thing is you can re-run msconfig and select again
those programs one by one.
