I was talking to a kennel the other day and he was telling me he was using a Cattle med for his dogs and suggestion Ivomec Anyone else have and ideals of this product or others

I think we (mods, admin) probably miss some posts about off-label RX use, but WDF policy since 2006 has been that there's no RX "prescribing" on the board.

This came about when we had a couple of posts here way back when, about using cattle/swine Ivomec for dogs ---- with dosage recommendations that were off by an entire decimal point.

Anyway, just a reminder. We know that many members were not here in 2006 and 2007 when this policy was announced and re-announced.

I've never used anything else for over 15 years. Because in TN we have "the hookworms from hell" I've gone to using it even on pups, as the "puppy wormer" (strongid) simply doesn't kill these nasty things. You need to be sure the active ingredient is IVERMECTIN, 1% solN.

Not mixed with ANYTHING else (not ivomec PLUS) There are alot of wormers and anti-parasite products with Ivermectin PLUS all sorta other stuff -- NO no no.

The least expensive I've found lately is IVERMAX.
A 50 ml bottle is out the door @ Farm Co-Op for right about $30 USD.

Ivermectic can KILL a dog with advance heartworm disease.
