Duct tape is right up there on my all-time favorite widgets, along with my Leatherman Tool and my Blackberry 8700c and my new training vest (gadget review on this later). I have had my eye on Gorilla Tape since I first saw it at a local Ace hardware a few months ago.

I have never said this about tape before, but this stuff is INSANE. It's got a ridiculous amount of adhesive on it, bonds to stucco, masonry, etc. It's expensive (8-9 bucks a roll) but it is scary good. Check out the performance specs the manufacturer claims:

Tried it out for the first time last night. Learned a few things:
1. You will look stupid, quick, if you try to tear it by hand.
2. Don't let it fold back on itself. SOL.
3. Don't set it down on its side on carpet, etc. Did this last night on our new berber carpet in our family room and pulled up the carpet about six inches off the floor before I realized what was happening.
4. Don't use it to tape people's mouths closed for your torture sessions in your basement. Regular duct tape is still fine for that. Gorilla Tape does NOT do well with the "Let me just rip it off real quick, it will hurt less that way." You will end up with lips and ears on your tape.
Buy it. Use it. Respect it. All hail the mighty Gorilla Tape. I'm gonna make a backtie hitch with it for Annie, we'll see how it holds up.
Gadget Drool Ratings (scale of 1>5):
Overall Adhesion: =P~ =P~ =P~ =P~ =P~
Cost: =P~ =P~
Duct Tape Coolness Factor: =P~ =P~ =P~ =P~
Usefullness In Torture Sessions: =P~ =P~ =P~ (excellent for securing someone to a chair, but had to downgrade due to skin adhesion. May be useful for waxing. Ladies (and men if that's your deal), let me know!)
