Hi we bought this puppy she was said to have been a Border Collie but we are wondering if she could be Belgian malinios maybe? She is highly protective and doesn’t like other people or dogs. She is super active and exceedingly mouthy constantly nipping and has some protective/dominant behaviour when on the sofa. She is 7 1/2 months old. She also has a very high prey drive. But can be very affectionate loving and loyal. Would love to know what anyone thinks??

No, she does not look like a Malinois at all. She does look very much like a smooth Border Collie and all of the behaviors you described are typical of a BC puppy.

She's a Border Collie or a good portion of one, but Border Collies can be quite protective, so there's no reason to think she isn't for that reason. She'll likely be a good companion who you can train to do LOTS of things with as they are very intelligent!!! But get her to a good trainer ASAP to work on the issues you mention as well as obedience!
