I would say they probably lack the drive. Some american bullies have some drive but all the gameness of the pitbull has been bred out.
American Bullies do lack drive. If it is hard to find a dog with good drive then the breed lacks drive, so I don't know what point you were making schutzrott. I also agree titled parents are a very good thing and choosing the pitbull might be a better option. As a beginner though you may want a "generic" breed because you may not have luck with an uncommonly used breed. To say that AB doesn't have the drive in general is an absurdity. First what's an AB? To me all the dogs pictured in the first post are not AB, they're designer dogs not working dogs. AB is first and foremost a working dog. Granted probably hard to find nowadays as they're drowned out in an ocean of pumpkin heads, much like my breed the rottweiler. But when you find the right line, oh watch out.. Everything is there with the added bonus that the dog is not rank driven, and is made in the USA! AB is my next in line breed of choice after a good rott, only because I don't like the short little white hairs stuck in everything.
