ASR Training

These aren't the best in the world, but here are some of the pictures (and one very short video) that my 13 year old cousin and I took of ASR training lastnight. I didn't get to take many pictures because I actually got to participate for more than 3 minutes. I had a BLAST, and Jak did, too. Everyone just loved his enthusiasm. I'm sore this morning, though! Guess I should start using my gym membership. I need to either get a different kind of leash, or start wearing gloves, because the one I have tears my hands UP!

To begin, everyone does some obedience (or in my case, just tries to control their unruly puppy who is more interested in checking everything out than listening    )

Then comes the bitework:

Jak *just barely* got ahold of it as it was swung by, but by God, he had it and was GOING to keep it!

Nice pics! Jak is very handsome! Very nice coloring.
OK Kristen, it's TIME.............We, down at the CSRA-ASR, want to come up there and have a BIG day of training for both dawgs and people. Should be fun. You're with some real good people up there to train with and they mare very nice. Hope to meet you soon.
That sounds great! Just let me know when and I'll be there! :D There's someone on another board that is interested in coming, too. He's in Lincolnton and said he became a member back in the 90s, but never got to train because the only club was in Florida. When he found out that there was one this close, he asked me about it so I gave him Rob's e-mail address. They said lastnight that they think they have enough people interested to actually form an "official" club now. Count me in!

Can't wait to meet you! Your sister's a hoot, by the way.
Ooooh now I might have to drive 2 hours for that!
Although mapquest said it was an hour and 20 minute drive for me, it only took me an hour to get down there from my house. Of course I usually drive anywhere from 5 to 8 miles faster than the speed limit, so if I had been going the speed limit, it MIGHT have taken the extra 20 minutes. We'll never know I guess.

Only 5 to 8 miles? I grew up in Germany. It's not uncommon for me to bury the spedometer and look down and have to hit my brakes when I realize it hee hee. I try to be good...they don't like that sort of thing here!

I think it'd probably take about 1 1/2 hours when all is said and done. I might consider it LOL. First I'm gonna talkt o this guy who has a SchH field here in Hickory (yes I am doing a HAPPY DANCE), and then someone is thinking about starting up a k-9/ppd style training in Lincolnton. Achilles's world just got so much brighter

You have to spell it this way, hooot. It makes her feel taller.

Stacia, 2 hours isn't far, come on down.

I have a radar detector, but I'm still not very comfortable going more than 10 miles above the limit.

I'm excited about the two other prospects in the Lincolnton/Hickory area too. Although it IS an hour and a half drive for me from my house to there, I'd do it in a heartbeat! :D

  I'll have to remember that. I won't tell her you said that, though.
Kristen, awesome photos! I'm glad you're getting involved in ASR, I've really enjoyed everything I've participated in so far. I wish there were some ASR guys closer to me, but the trainer I work with has trained the ASR routines before so we're doing fine :)
