Anyone else having this happen?

I keep having a damn "Gateway" search page pop up all over this forum. I can't even get THIS posted without it happening!

Re: Anyone else having this happen?

What browser are you using?

Have you tried changing the default search engine?

Re: Anyone else having this happen?

No, but I keep getting some advne.net/ads.html thing in my address bar, it seems to be invisible but it's loading up on about half the pages I visit. And it messes with the browser history, a lot of times I have to hit back twice to get back 1 page, because that advne.net page is hiding in there. I've tried various things, so far can't seem to block it from trying to load up.

I have that same problem if I use IE. However, it doesn't seem to happen when I use Safari.

Are you sure it's not adven rather than advne?

Do you have a games person using the computer? It sounds like one of those game-embedded spyware things.

It's advne.net, I just saw it again when typing this post. It happens on every computer I access this forum from, including my work computer. Absolutely NO gaming going on from that one LOL That's when I use IE. When I used Mozilla instead, it started trying to load some google ad stuff.

Re: Anyone else having this happen?

It's advne. I see it was discussed on another forum but I can't find anything detailed that I can follow. Maybe there's something here that would be helpful.

Re: Anyone else having this happen?

Something like this happened to me a few years ago (when I used a PC), and my home page kept getting hijacked by spyware/adware called 360 something.

I finally managed to remove every part of the program, once I found them all in my applications. There were something like 8 pieces of this thing, and removing some or most did not disable it. It was horrible. The second time it happened, I called a software support guy and had him come and both remove it and install security.

Re: Anyone else having this happen?

THis is what I dug up on the domain.
Seems it was a problem on amazon as well, although it seems to be fixed.
Maybe someone should ask the support guys that make the software for this site.
