| Ate the Tug | Basset Anyone? I know this is a working dog board BUT I wanted to post this boy here because his previous 'pet' homes have made him in to what he is. That being said...is anyone in the market for a Basset???? I am desperate to find a GOOD home for this boy. In January we were conacted by Basset Rescue to assist w/ one of their dogs that bit his foster mom (who btw was hugging him when he would growl and show aggression towards her). They had him temperement tested during his 10 day quaratine and the lady who did his evaluation did not find any issues w/ him and he came here for training after his quarantine. The 1st day here we had a disagreement about him going in his crate and after that, he was here for 4 weeks and I never saw one single bit of aggression at all. Darryl and I both worked w/ him inside and out and NOTHING. Now, saying that he IS a dominant dog and I can completely see him taking over any household if given 1/2 the chance. Fast forward to him leaving here and going to a new foster, possibly to adopt, home. Darryl and I went to the home to work w/ them and show them how to handle Gordy. A few days ago I had a call about how great he was doing and that they were moving forward to adopt him. Today I get a call from the rescue group that they have been given a set amount of days to get Gordy from the home or the new owners are going to have him put down for aggression. I once again am stumped. I did everything possible here to entice him to bite me-pulled ears, rolled him on his back, poked and prodded him, took treats straight out of his mouth and NOTHING...he never tried anything. I had him around my daughter, around my neighbors toddlers...NOTHING. Anyways, I offered to help find Gordy the right home which must consist of owners that definitely have a dominant personality w/ their dogs and are prepared to work with him on his issues and not be afraid to bring the law down on him if he does act up. This will be Gordy's SIXTH home change in the last 4-5 months and he really is a sweet boy. Soooooooooooo if anyone knows of anyone who knows of anyone..please send them my way!
