The working dog is an efficient working dog. He can be trained on grounds of his driving
qualities and his constitution by the handler for various tasks trained and used.
The working dog is a value in itself. To possess him and his genetic resources, belongs to the
maintenance of the heritage.
Working dog. He is used as such with his innate behaviour patterns and abilities of the handler to the
support of his own work. With it the handler takes the right to utilize the dog. From the beginning of
domestication, this was the essential motivation of human beings, to enter the symbiosis with the dog.
This anthropocentric beginning comes to the animal in the benefit that it gets the opportunity to realize
his operating potential and cognitive abilities.
Proficiency. In the capability of the performance, the working dog demands a special quality of the
work. This is determined by physical and psychological components. A demand for performance
involves developing and testing these skills. This aspiration will be limited by the idea of ethical animal
welfare.
Aptitude. The working dog possesses the necessary conditions for training. These need not necessarily
be realized. With a function as a pure society dog- and companion dog, he must also be given the
opportunity of necessary training, to enjoy a thourough life.
Driving qualities describe the psychological components of the constitution. They determine kind and
expiry of the functions and reactions. The different intended purposes of the working dog require
different propelling qualities. The operating behavioral determinants arise from the bases of the
preservation of the species: Hunger, sexual desire, escape, aggression. Composition and degree of
manifestation determine the intended purpose.
Constitution. It is determined by components such as driving qualities, overall anatomical structure,
vitality, longevity, agility, strength and stamina. These must correspond to the respective intended
purposes.
From mankind. With the right to utilize the dog the man has taken over responsibility. He must breed
him in such a way, retain and train so that the dog can fulfil the respective tasks within reason of ethical
animal welfare. High regard is set for the preservation of genetic resources.
Versatility. The broad variance of the driving qualities and the constitution cause a huge number of
application possibilities which the handler uses according to his respective need.
Qualified. The use of the working dog demands training. Training canalizes the natural driving
qualities of the dog in desired behaviour patterns. This process orientates itself by ethological
knowledge and kynologisch - to empiric knowledge. To assert the will of the handler, on the natural
behavior of the dog to form it accordingly to purposes and to make controllable, also implies arbitrary
measures. Besides, the standards must be maintained. The conflict management in the training forms
the personality of the dog.
In addition, the training of the working dogs has breeding relevance. It is intended to appropriate
individuals defined by these tests and to supply them for breeding.
